The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently sponsored a self-reliance course in surburban Sydney to help budding entrepreneurs succeed. Participants have been enthusiastic about the program. “What a truly amazing opportunity it has been to participate in this course," said Damon Baker.
Ru Wihongi, a widow of two years, is launching an online clothing business for women of size. She commented, “Some of the defining moments in class have been spiritual for me with lessons on integrity, honesty, and the concept that God that he wants to succeed, not just for our benefit, but also for supporting our families and blessing the community as a whole."
With her passion for education, Naomi Waetford said, “I found that the classes helped me change my mindset. By the end of the course I made goals and set dates to get my own business rolling.”
The group has created its own Facebook page and meets regularly to network, bounce ideas off each other, and provide feedback and encouragement.
