The Gosford Family Search Centre, assisted by the Central Coast Family History Society and Wyong Family History Group are inviting all families to a day of family discovery on Saturday 25th March at 10am – 2:30pm at the Gosford meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (14-24 Akora Road, Wyoming).
Do you recall learning about the origins of your family members? Did they come on the first fleet as a convict or free settler? Did they come from one of the vast cultures that make-up Australia or have they gone ‘walkabout’ telling their stories of the 'dream time' for over 40 thousand years?
We all have a family story – who are we and where did we come from? Are you aware of the amazing free online resources to help you uncover yours?
Make a Family Discovery Day by attending ‘Hyperlink the Generations – Past, Present and Future’.
The family discovery day consists of various workshops, activities and training sessions relating to family history resources. For example, an Introduction to 'Family Search Records', 'Introduction to Family Tree', and 'Tips for collaborating with people' when using online trees.
There will be creative opportunities available to get all generations involved such as the ‘Family Brainstorming Sessions’ where the WHOLE family can come together and brainstorm about their family tree. During these sessions they can discover what they know or don’t know about their family, and be stimulated to make more searches and discoveries!
The Family Discovery Day will feature competitions like a ‘Tell us a Short Story’ about a family member, stories behind a family photograph and your all time ‘Famous Family recipes'.
Come along and learn how to link past families with present families for the future.
