More than seventy family history enquiries were received Tuesday 22nd August at the new Council facilities in Bundaberg during Bundaberg Seniors Week.
Various organisations displayed their services to the community including the Bundaberg Ward (congregation) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which provided packets to assist people searching for their ancestors.
The study of one's ancestors or family history is one of most popular hobbies in the world. The Church has created the largest collection of family records in the world. Due to cooperation from government archives, churches, and libraries, these records are made available through family history centres.
Participants at the event were made aware of a family history centre at the Bundaberg Ward building. This centre is free and open to the public and staffed by knowledgable volunteers.
Because of the event, local University of the Third Age (U3A) President expressed interest in offering Family History classes.
People of all faiths and nationalities enjoy discovering where they come from. These important links to one's ancestors can be discovered through family history.
