Latter-day Saint Shares Talent with Community

Michaela Butler, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was invited to sing at the Annual Christmas Carols at Yarrabilba, south of Brisbane, Queensland in December 2019. With over 7,500 people in attendance, Michaela was able to share her talents with her local community performing various Christmas hits including “Mary, Did You Know," “Joy to the World” and “Jingle Bells."

Michaela volunteered to sing at the event in order to challenge herself and push herself out of her comfort zone. Michaela loves singing and says that it brings her joy. She has enjoyed sharing her talents from a young age, singing at school, in church meetings, in choirs, and now, for her community. Michaela feels strongly that her talents are not only for her, but also for those around her.

On the importance of sharing talents, Michaela said, “Sometimes we don’t know the true impact our talents can have on others.  I find that music is one of the best ways to deliver a message.  I have seen people’s hearts touched through music.  I would never consider myself a professional--it’s something I do because of the joy I feel when I share it.”
