The Ahmaddiya Muslim Community gathers annually to celebrate prophets from the scriptures. Earlier this year, Michael Wroe, Communication Director for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brisbane Australia Beenleigh Stake (diocese), Queensland, was invited to speak on a panel, in which he joined with other faith representatives, who spoke about the founders of their particular faith group. Faith group leaders, political leaders and members of the community were in attendance.

Held in the Baitul Masroor Mosque in Stockleigh, Queensland, speakers shared their thoughts about their founder, and religious perspectives, with shared recognition of the important and critical roles prophets have played throughout history.
Michael observed that there is a thirst for interfaith knowledge; a search to find the commonalities that can bring us together as different faiths and as a community.
In speaking about Joseph Smith, who restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Latter-days, Michael said, “It is enlightening and empowering as we discuss the teachings of the founders of our various faith groups. I have learned a great amount in regard to the other faiths represented here today. It has also served to strengthen my own resolve to live my faith better. It was also an honour to be asked to represent the Christian community as a whole.”
Michael noted, “This year, 2020, is the bicentennial of the First Vision, the time that Latter-day Saints firmly believe that God, the Father and His son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph Smith in answer to an earnest prayer, and ushered in the restoration of His church upon the earth.”
Zane Bain, who helped organise this event, shared, “I knew very little about Joseph Smith and his teachings before today.”
