Local Church Leader Goes 'Batman'

With a love of family and cars, it is only natural that Bishop Matthew A. Parsons, a leader of the Bungarribee congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, would take on a 4891km trek raising money for charity.

Partnering with Bryden’s Lawyers B to B Bash for Variety, Matthew donned his Batman cape and began the adventure with other super heroes to help raise money for the Variety Children's Charity - a charity for children who are disadvantaged, terminally ill or have special needs. The super heroes traveled through New South Wales and Queensland, finishing in the Northern Territory. Goldie Chatto who suffers from Rett disease was the recipient of a new wheelchair provided by the charity. Matthew indicated, “This is perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity to help raise much needed funds for some of those who are the most vulnerable in our communities.”

Bishop Parsons, is also the founder of the Blacktown Interfaith Group of Communities, and has served people all his life. Through his constant church and community service he has always looked for ways to lend a helping hand and ease the burdens of others.

On completion of the ‘Bash’ he will return to his regular responsibilities as a father and husband, a Bishop, and to his role as group commercial manager at Refuelling Solutions.

At the end of the successful journey, the super hero reflected, “I can't think of a better way to bring some relief from hardships that others suffer, than through loving and compassionate service… We drive miles for smiles!”
