Singers from eleven choirs throughout the Ballarat region in Victoria came together on Sunday 28th May to unite their voices in song as they performed at the Ballarat Choral Festival.
Now in its 22nd year, the event is organised by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held at the beautiful Catholic St Patrick’s Cathedral under the direction of Margaret Lenan Ellis, a founder of the Ballarat Interfaith Network.
The annual Choral Festival is a partnership between the Catholic Church and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, uniting many faiths in the community through uplifting music.
The event included performances by choirs from local churches, educational institutions and the community.
Father Justin Driscoll of St Patrick's Cathedral expressed his gratitude to the participants in these words, "The Festival is a wonderful event for the Ballarat community and I am delighted that our two communities have formed such a wonderful partnership to be able to host this event. May the Choral Festival continue to bring so many people from right across our Ballarat community together in their shared love of music and singing. The final hymn that all sang was glorious! Many thanks for all of your involved in this festival”.
