Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered last weekend for a conference in Finley, NSW, Australia.
Leading the meeting was Elder Peter F. Meurs, General Authority Seventy and Pacific Area President of the Church of Jesus Christ, Elder Damon Page, Area Seventy, and President Craig Williams, lay leader for the Church in the Riverina area.
During the conference, members and guests joined together to receive counsel, share experiences, and to strengthen and support each other. Attendees greeted each other with big smiles, warm hugs, and genuine interest. It was a pure display of Christ-like love.
On Saturday morning, a session was held for newly baptized members, seasonal workers and friends of the Church. Counsel and instruction were given to develop and strengthen faith.
Elder Meurs opened the conference by sharing, “This is a Church of joy. I hope you feel joy and love at this conference. Our Heavenly Father loves us, and He blesses us through others.”
Daniel, a newly baptised member of the Church of Jesus Christ, said, “I joined the Church because I felt the love and faith of the members. Their love and faith helped me to develop my own faith. In this meeting, I have been strengthened and I can feel the love of those around me.”
During a session with young adults, Elder Page counselled, “When you feel the Spirit of the Lord in your life, make decisions, and then stick to those decisions. The Spirit will guide us to know what we should do. It is then up to us to follow the promptings of the Spirit.”
Brent, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ who has returned to activity in the Church, said, “Recently, I had an experience where the Lord touched my heart, and I knew that I needed to go back to Church. My activity at Church has lifted me and now my fiancé is planning to be baptised. Attending this conference has reminded me of why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and how important it is to feel of the Spirit regularly.”
Elder Meurs shared with attendees, “Reach out to those you love and relive positive spiritual experiences with that person. By reliving these experiences, both of you will feel the Spirit and be strengthened together.
The Lord is indeed hastening His work. All of us can participate. We need your help. We are all part of His great work.”
