South Australian Faith Leaders Share Easter Messages

Rainer Korte, a leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Adelaide, is one of six faith representatives sharing Easter messages in The Advertiser newspaper today.

Korte is president of the Church's Firle Stake which comprises a number of congregations in a geographical location, similar to a diocese in some other churches.

President Rainer Korte's message begins:

"And as you would that men should do to you, do you also likewise unto them" — this simple teaching of Jesus Christ, found in the New Testament, Luke chapter 6 verse 31, has had a powerful effect on the hearts and lives of the people of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across Adelaide.

Shocked by the impact of bushfires that raged across the Adelaide Hills in January, the Church community rallied to reach out to neighbours in need and help clear wreckage from their properties so they could rebuild and move forward.

Hands and faces were dirty with soot and ash, but hearts were gladdened as young and old spent Australia Day, and several Saturdays, reaching out with love and friendship in service to others — the very essence of discipleship of Christ.

Read the rest of President Korte's message and the messages of other faith leaders at The Advertiser's website.

Other messages about Easter and the gospel of Jesus Christ will be shared by speakers at this weekend's annual general conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
