Victorian Saints Host "Our Festival for Farmers" and First Responders Recognition Evening

On Friday 13th December 2019, the Gippsland Stake (diocese) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invited First Responders, community leaders, volunteers, and the Gippsland Farmer Relief Charity to a "Our Festival for Farmers" and First Responders in Traralgon, Victoria.

Each of the volunteers joined their respective organisations to make a difference to their community. When asked about why they chose to give of their time so freely, the sum of comments reflected those captured below.

"We joined to help the community, and for the camaraderie", and "What motivated us was that we saw the great work being done by the first responders, and wanted to help by playing or part."

To further celebrate such valuable community contributors, the Traralgon Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints performed numerous musical numbers including a special Christmas play by the young children.

Gippsland Latter-day Saint and local spokesperson Alice Watson reflected the feeling of the evening, commenting, "We are grateful for these volunteers and the hours they spend in the community helping others. We also acknowledge and thank Gippsland Stake Relief Society President Cindy Scott for coordinating the donations to the Gippsland Farmer Relief."
