VIDEO: Filipinos Find Shelter, Aid in Church's Chapels After Typhoon

LDS chapels protected thousands of Mormons and their neighbors, now settings for humanitarian relief

When Typhoon Haiyan struck the central Philippine islands on 8 November, more than 10,000 Filipinos sought refuge with 4,000 of their Mormon neighbours in 200 chapels of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even though several meetinghouses were damaged, all inside were protected. The video below shows how these sturdy structures now shelter hundreds of displaced families while also providing humanitarian support to those in need in dozens of ravaged communities.
