Produced by the Public Affairs Department of the Church, the report draws upon “video news releases” that are produced for distribution to television news outlets, said Michael Purdy, who oversees its production. It covers events that have taken place during the previous six months since the last general conference.
General conferences are conducted each April and October. During the conference, Church leaders speak on a variety of spiritual topics. Since the vast majority of the Church's 15 million members are unable to attend general conference in person, the meetings are broadcast via satellite and internet to members and those not of our faith throughout the world.
