Couple Wed in Brisbane Latter-day Saint Temple get a Surprise Visit

Stacey Vaoga and Junior Fiu were married in the Brisbane Australia Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday 14 May.

Returning later in the day to take photographs in the temple grounds, the couple had a chance meeting with Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who is currently visiting Australia.

Elder Andersen, Elder Lynn G. Robbins, Elder Kevin W. Pearson and Elder Keith P. Walker were hosting in the temple grounds with His Grace Mark Coleridge, Archbishop of Brisbane, at the time. The faith leaders took the opportunity to visit with the young newly-married couple.

A friend of the couple, Tessa Vaoga, said, “It was a great moment to be waiting at the gate, seeing him [Elder Andersen] wave us in and meeting him.”

The groom, Junior Fiu, moved to Brisbane after serving a mission in New Zealand. He met his future bride at a church activity.

He said he felt blessed to meet the faith leaders on his and his wife’s special day.
