Some prisons are literal, physical institutions, but other "prisons" include physical and mental afflictions and addictions.
Perhaps you or someone you know feels deep despair and longs for the happiness that seems so elusive. If you wonder how to respond when physical or mental afflictions challenge someone you love, you can remind them of the counsel given by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
He remarked, “Above all, never lose faith in your Father in Heaven, who loves you more than you can comprehend. As President Monson said … “That love never changes … It is there for you when you are sad or happy, discouraged or hopeful. God’s love is there for you whether or not you feel you deserve [it]. It is simply always there.”
Jesus taught, "I was in prison and ye came unto me." Matthew 25:36 When someone you love feels trapped, you can reach out through kindness and service and let them know they’re not alone.
