Day 22 #LightTheWorld: That Which Ye Have Seen Me Do Even That Shall Ye Do

This year women in the Relief Society of the Wonthaggi Branch (smaller congregation) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints participated in a year-long service project for the Share the Dignity organisation with their “It’s in the Bag” campaign.

Every month in 2017, the women generously donated hygiene items such as shampoo, beauty products, toothbrushes and handbags to be assembled later in the year.

At a joint service project in November, the women from the Relief Society, young women from 12-18 years, and primary aged girls met together and packed 58 bags for women who are homeless, experiencing poverty, in shelters or victims of domestic violence.

Those who participated felt it was a wonderful experience to know that in some small way, they had helped make Christmas a little brighter for someone else.

Sister Sharon Eubank of the General Relief Society presidency of the Church recently said, “When we build, when we lift the burdens of others, it blesses our lives in ways our trials cannot take away.”

No one has provided a better pattern for living than Jesus Christ. As we seek to emulate Him, we can improve our own lives and the lives of people around us just like the women in the Wonthaggi Branch so generously did.
