Jesus taught, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they that testify of me." John 5:39
This teaching is currently being implemented by the youth of the Maroondah Stake (diocese) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a challenge to read the Book of Mormon by the end of 2017 and post it on Facebook.
Youth leader, Jeremy Nicholl felt impressed to issue this challenge after listening to counsel given by President Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in the October 2017 General Conference of the Church.
When President Nelson said, "I promise that as you daily immerse yourself in the Book of Mormon, you can be immunized against the evils of the day.” Jeremy knew he had found the solution to his questions.
After counseling with his leaders, Jeremy challenged the young men in the Maroondah Stake (diocese) to read the Book of Mormon by the end of December 2017 and post it on Facebook. What began as a challenge to the young men, has now been issued to the young women as well.
The scriptures contain the word of God, relayed to us through inspired servants. As we study the scriptures, we grow closer to God and gain a clearer vision of our purpose on earth.
