Latter-day Saint Leaders to Visit Papua New Guinea

Senior international and regional leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will visit Papua New Guinea later this month.

Elder Lynn G. Robbins of the Presidency of the Seventy, Elder S. Gifford Nielsen of the Pacific Area Presidency and Elder Jeffrey D. Cummings, an Area Seventy (regional ecclesiastical leader), will visit the country from 29 August.


 
Elder Robbins will be accompanied by his wife, Jan Robbins; and Elder Nielsen will be accompanied by his wife, Wendy Nielsen.
 
They will be meeting with leaders, missionaries and other members of the Church in Port Moresby.
 
Elder Lynn G. Robbins was sustained to the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 5 April 2014. Previously, he served as president of the Church's South America South Area, the Central America Area, and the North America West Area. He has also served in the North America Central Area. 

Elder Robbins served a full-time mission in Argentina as a younger man, and has served as president of the Uruguay Montevideo Mission.
 
Elders S. Gifford Nielsen was sustained a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 6 April 2013. He has served in numerous Church positions including seminary (youth) teacher, bishop, stake president, and Area Seventy.
 
Elder Jeffrey D. Cummings was sustained as an Area Seventy for the Church 2 April 2011. He has also served as a full time missionary, stake president and bishop, among other church assignments. He and his family live in Australia.
