Mormon Helping Hands has been busy recently providing service across Camden, Mittagong and Wollongong in New South Wales. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave up their Saturdays to join their neighbours and other church members to participate in several service projects.
Activities included volunteering at The Lifeline store in Narellan and Sector Connect, a community centre in Mt Annan.
Members also offered their time to help clean, paint and clean up the garden The Centre for Sector Connect in Mt Annan, which provides a wide range of services such as sector development, network and service systems development. The paint and materials were donated by Oldfields Holdings Limited for the day of service.
"We couldn't have done this withouth the support from those who donated the materials and members who gave up their Saturdays", said Gayle Ryan, member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. We thank everyone for their ongoing support."
The members spent most of the day gardening the front yard and cutting down a few big trees that were hiding the front windows. They cleaned up the backyard and painted rooms inside the building that were well overdue for a fresh coat of paint.
Volunteers also provided service to Lifeline Narellan and two homes in the communities of Camden and Mittagong. With their bright yellow Mormon Helping Hands vests they cleaned the yards and helped brighten several families lives in the community.
