Scott Stephens, Editor of Religion and Ethics for the ABC, was the guest speaker at a devotional for young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brisbane recently.
Mr Stephens spoke about religious freedom and ethics, hot topics in today's world. In times of much religious misunderstanding, he led a rousing discussion on how a person can lead a faith-filled life in our media saturated world filled with turmoil and terror.
Later, the young adults were invited to ask questions, ranging from how they can help those in other countries who are suffering to how he met his wife.
A major message of the evening was how to love your neighbour and how important it is to love and serve those in your immediate proximity. Mr Stephens touched on how social media is making us less social and how the value of friendship is declining.
He urged the audience to create friendships and relationships that are strong, in which they can love and serve each other and together create a stronger and more ethically stable community.
