Young Adults Share Christian Beliefs through Song at Buddhist Temple

Twenty-four young single adults were recently invited to share their Christian beliefs through song at an interfaith gathering celebrating Chinese New Year at the Chung Tian Buddhist Temple in Springwood, Queensland.

This invitation to participate in the festival was extended to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, following a Helping Hands clean-up activity in October last year by the Brisbane Stake (diocese) Director of Public Affairs, Mark Baker.

Local member Mark Gibson organised the choir. They beautifully performed the song 'Peace in Christ' which Mark remarked, "This song expresses our belief that following the Saviour Jesus Christ will bring peace into our lives even when there is stress and turmoil in the world about us."

Rochedale Ward (congregation) Bishop Mark Jennings and his wife, Jaqueline, were also in attendance and enjoyed an interesting private tour of the Buddhist Temple and its surrounds. Bishop Jennings participated in the service alongside other faith leaders. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the choir and to Bishop Jennings.

Venerable Chueh-Shan, the Abbess of Chung Tian Temple hosted choir members and other Church visitors to enjoy a vegetarian lunch after the meeting.

Church members who attended enjoyed the warm hospitality from our Buddhist friends.
