In its October 2018 issue of Australian Chess Magazine 50 Moves, the bi-monthly publication features an interview with Elder Kayden Troff, an American Chess Grandmaster. Elder Troff won the 2014 World U/14 Chess Championship in Maribor, Slovenia, and earned the U.S. Grandmaster title two years later at the age of 16.
With a professional chess career looking likely, Elder Troff chose instead to accept a mission call for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and put his developing chess career on hold for two years. He is currently serving as a full-time missionary for the Church in the Australia Brisbane Mission.
